The Theban Mapping Project, under the direction of Kent Weeks, (who has written an excellent Guide to Luxor) has been working in the Theban Necroplois for many years. In the spring of 2004, the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) requested that they prepare a masterplan for the future management of the Valley. The project was undertaken by Kent Weeks and Nigel Hetherington as was generously supported by the World Monuments Fund (WMF), and the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE), and several private donors.
